Ruby ANPR keeps the operational states separate. An open session can become Currently over limit while the vehicle is still on site. A confirmed overstay is calculated when a corresponding OUT event completes the stay. That distinction keeps live monitoring separate from completed evidence.

Each feature works from the same self-hosted Ruby ANPR capture data and role-aware portal.
Permits & exemptions
Create plate-based exemptions for authorised vehicles, staff, residents, contractors or temporary access, with notes and optional validity dates.
Grace periods
Add an operator-defined grace allowance on top of the standard parking limit. The applied grace is retained with the individual parking session.
Low-confidence review
Choose a confidence threshold and hold uncertain plate reads for Admin approval, correction or rejection before they influence parking activity.
Watchlists
Maintain WATCH, DENIED, VIP, STAFF and CONTRACTOR lists and highlight matching captures in the parking workflow.

The software builds on the same IN / OUT data already used by Ruby ANPR, then adds the parking rules and operator workflow around it.
IN event
The vehicle enters through a configured parking camera and Ruby ANPR opens a parking session.
Rules applied
Allowed minutes, grace and any matching exemption are stored against that stay.
Live state
The session contributes to occupancy and can be shown as currently over limit while it remains open.
OUT event
The corresponding exit closes the session and calculates completed stay and any overstay.
Review & evidence
Operators can review the case, add notes, export data and create the evidence bundle.

Common questions about the V2.0.0 parking workflow
Do I have to use Parking Management?
No. Parking Management is optional and is disabled by default on a fresh Build V2.0.0 installation. Standard ANPR monitoring can be used without enabling parking cameras or parking rules.
When is a vehicle classed as an overstay?
An open stay that has exceeded its time is shown as Currently over limit. A completed overstay is calculated after a corresponding OUT event closes the IN → OUT parking session.
Can staff or authorised vehicles be exempt?
Yes. Permits/exemptions can be created by registration with a type, label, notes, active state and optional start/expiry dates.
What happens if a plate read has low confidence?
When low-confidence review is enabled, captures below the configured threshold can be held for an Admin to approve, correct or reject before the reviewed registration is used by the parking workflow.
Can Ruby ANPR show how full the car park is?
Yes. Configure the site's parking capacity and Ruby ANPR can calculate currently parked vehicles, available spaces and current occupancy percentage from open sessions.
Does the evidence bundle include images?
Where the original camera event supplied them, the ZIP can contain the entry and exit plate, vehicle and wider detection-scene images alongside summary data.
